Apis dorsata HIMMAPAN’s Sensation Honey

BL004 – Apis dorsata HIMMAPAN’s Sensation Honey

Origin: Buffer zone of Doi Phu Kha National Park, Nan Province
Bee Species: Apis dorsata (Giant Honey Bee)
Altitude: 800 – 1,980 meters above sea level

About the Ecosystem: This rare and remarkable honey is harvested from the ancient forest fringes of Doi Phu Kha National Park, a biologically significant area in northern Thailand. The forest here is a unique mosaic of montane evergreen and dry evergreen forests, forming a high-elevation ecosystem rich in endemic and prehistoric flora.

Among the standout species are: Bretschneidera sinensis (Chomphu Phu Kha) – a prehistoric and critically rare flowering tree, found in Thailand only on Doi Phu Kha. Acer wilsonii (Kwuam Phu Kha) – a rare maple species native to this highland region.

With elevations ranging from 800 to 1,980 meters, the forest supports vertical ecological zonation and is a key watershed for the Nan River and its tributaries. The climate remains cool year-round, with average temperatures between 10–25°C and winter lows occasionally below 5°C, sometimes producing morning frost.

Ecological Importance: This forest represents a primeval wilderness, preserving not only rare species but also the balance of northern Thailand’s ecosystems. Its pristine biodiversity, vertical forest layers, and climatic conditions give rise to a complex nectar profile, unavailable in lower, cultivated landscapes.

About the Honey: This Apis dorsata wild honey delivers a multi-dimensional botanical flavor, derived from over ten distinctive forest plant species. It features a delicate sweetness with subtle herbal and slightly bitter notes, reflecting the depth of its ancient floral origins.

“HIMMAPAN’s Sensation” honors the legendary Himmapan Forest in Thai mythology—a realm of mystical beauty. This honey truly lives up to that legacy: rare, pure, and deeply connected to nature's untouched majesty.
